Time-honored Workhorse Barrel Style

Like stagecoaches, swinging saloon doors and Pony Express riders, there are many innovations of the Old West that have long faded from use and live on only in Western movies and history books.

But there are still a few frontier staples that were so effective and ahead of their time that they remain in use today. Take, for instance, the intimidating octagonal barrels commonly found on the repeating rifles of that period. These heavy-duty workhorses sported added mass and extra weight to aid in heat absorption, making them the forerunners to the bull barrels used on modern target and varmint rifles.

So as a tip of our Stetson in honor of this timeless barrel style, we replaced the standard round barrel normally used on our world-famous .22 LR and .22 Magnum rifles with a classic 20″ octagonal model, like those favored by the cowpunchers, lawmen, homesteaders and outlaws who blazed the trail westward across America. You can also opt for the 24″ barrel option to really tighten up those groups at the range. We rounded out this traditional look with an easy-to-adjust Marbles semi-buckhorn rear sight with a diamond insert and a highly visible brass beaded front sight seated in standard 3/8″ dovetail slots. A metal barrel band secures both the barrel and the high-capacity tubular magazine to the highgrade American walnut stock.

If you prefer a more modern look, the receiver is grooved so you can top off any rifle in this line with your choice of scopes. Both the stock and forearm are crafted of the same richly grained hand-finished American walnut typically found on rifles costing up to three times as much.

Henry Rifles Customers-flanaganMr. Imperato,

I had recently been looking for a .22 rifle to replace my old one but I wanted a more traditional style rifle than I’ve had in the past. I looked at bolt action rifles and semi auto rifles but I could not find one that spoke to me. Then, as luck would have it, a Henry Repeating Arms catalog came in the mail. While flipping through the catalog, I came across the lever action Frontier model .22 and I knew I had found the rifle I ‘d been looking for. I had never owned a lever action rifle before and I was concerned whether I would like the action, but I decided to give it a try (childhood thoughts of the old west helped a bit). I ordered the Henry Frontier Model .22 rifle from Mid-State Gun Co. in Coventry, RI. When it arrived and I saw it for the first time, I knew I made the right decision. I was attracted to the rifle because of its octagon barrel, handsome walnut stock and its old west style. The rifle looked better than I could imagine and I was amazed at how smooth the action functioned. I could not wait to get it to the range and put some rounds through it. Range day came and it performed flawlessly!

I am so impressed with my Henry lever action that I just went back to the gun store and ordered a Henry Big Boy in .45 colt. Thank you for making a superb, all American rifle at an affordable price. Benjamin Tyler Henry would be proud!

Sincerely,

Mike Flanagan

Henry Rifles Customers-walpoleWhen contemplating a .22 rifle, I provided you with several questioning emails about your lever action frontier model. Needless to say, after my purchase, I have been impressed time and time again at the range (and impressing others into also purchasing).. Your rifle, as you state in your ads, has an incredibly smooth action, is accurate, and is, truly, a joy to shoot! My personal thanks to you, and all of your employees, for manufacturing a wonderful, American-made product.

Dear Tony.

The 22 is becoming famous. I ran a good ammo test today from the bench at 25 yards. It will be part of a feature article at Outdoors Unlimited Magazine. 9 different dime sized dots were used, with 5 shot groups recorded. The scope was a Bushnell Banner 3×9 commonly used by many squirrel hunters.

The Bushnell Banner 6×18 has won more World Squirrel Rifle Championships on a CZ-452 than any other. Today using different ammo two Black Death Targets were achieved. I was only using the dots as an aiming point as the rifle was zeroed with Wolf Match Extra and no other sight adjustment was made. The scope was set on 4 power.

The results (without a vice) showed that you can even hit a dime with Federal (junk) ammo the worst group of the day. What is great is bolt action riflemen are challenging the Henry, I like that.

I wasn’t going to do it but I’m going to try to beat my CZ in a head to head accuracy test, even though they are not in the same class…Cowboy against Sporter. There is really nothing left to do, the Henry is perfect…here is the general ammo test.

Henry Rifles Customers-StoneI’m 65 years old and wanted a Henry for as long as I can remember. Just bought Model Hoo1T and it was worth the wait, I think. The problem is it is so nice and the craftsman ship is so over the top I don’t want to shoot it. You know its one thing to see this gun in a magazine, on TV or even listen to you talk about Henry rifles but you really can not see and feel the beauty the craftsmanship and the quality until you hold it in your hands.

Outstanding and made in America, Thank you.

Henry Rifles Customers-ZerniaAbout three years ago I purchased a Henry Frontier Model rifle. It has become my favorite firearm. In the last two years I have entered a turkey shoot put on by the American Legion. 2 1/2 inch bullseye at 50 feet. Open sights.I have won a turkey each time I’ve entered. The only time it was close was when one of the competitors had a Henry Golden Boy, and then I won in a shoot off. Thanks to Henry for making such a fine product and making them in the USA!

Henry Rifles Customers-MorenoPurchased a Henry 22 with an octagon barrel and a loop lever last Christmas for my wife of 46 years, she will not put it down. Costing me $30 dollars or more per week in ammo. Guess she likes it! I try and get a turn with it and have a hard time getting in just a few rounds. Best gift I have ever given her. Guess Ill have to upgrade her this year….. Great gun, great customer service all made in the USA.

Henry Rifles Customers-TacconeI cannot begin to completely convey how satisfied I am with my Henry H001T rifle. A few months back I shot my friends Henry lever .22 and I was blown away with the accuracy and how much fun it was to shoot. Even being the base model, I was surprised with the fit and finish, the smoothness of the action and the trigger, and especially the price. I put my Ruger 10/22 up for sale the following week and ordered a Henry H001T as I really loved the look of the octagonal barrel. Luckily a few days later I had it in my hand. One of the best decisions I have ever made. Nothing beats a simple, no frills 22 rifle that gives you the flexibility of short and long rifle, and especially not having to worry with whether the rifle will cycle the ammunition like finicky autoloaders with target ammunition. I have let several kids shoot the rifle and seeing the look on their faces as they work the lever and deliver hit after hit on target is awesome. This may be the most accurate 22 rifle I have ever shot, and I have recommended it to everyone who inquires about it. Thank you and the company for producing a quality product at a great price and standing behind it, I am proud to be a Henry owner. Thank you very much Mr. Imperato!

Sincerely,

Matthew Taccone
